Zinc VC backs Potenix to build intelligent pretreatment for anaerobic digestion
Potenix has secured venture backing from Zinc VC to support the development of CatalystIQ™, an intelligent pretreatment layer designed to help existing anaerobic digestion plants recover more energy from the feedstock they already receive.
Anaerobic digestion plants process organic material that changes from load to load, while treatment strategies are often fixed. CatalystIQ™ characterises each incoming load in line, infers how the material is likely to behave in digestion, and applies a matched treatment programme from Potenix's in-house engineered-biology library before the material enters the digester.
The backing supports continued development of the platform, expansion of the engineered-biology library and progression from controlled validation into operating plants. Potenix's approach is retrofit-first: the unit sits upstream of existing infrastructure, so operators do not need to replace the digester.
Alongside venture backing, Potenix has secured more than £1.2 million in non-dilutive funding and has independently validated performance in controlled testing. The company's platform architecture is patent pending.
